Swami Divyananda Maharaj joined Ramakrishna Mission in 1972. He did his post-graduation in physics and served RKM Vidya Mandir Belurmath as Vice Principal and Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, as a Principal. He took classes for two decades, served as secretary of Agartala, Malda and Saradapitha RKM. He is now serving as Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Mtah, Cossipore. He imparts orientation courses of University of Calcutta and Burdwan University. He has been motivating jail inmates of West Bengal for 18 years so that they can join the mainstream. He is a trustee of Ramakrishna Math and member of Governing Body of RKM, Belurmath.
